Giving Glory to God

"But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:23-24

The purpose and goal of the Cornerstone Worship Community is to be the lead worshipers of our church, not necessarily the worship leaders. Too often leading can become prodding and manipulation, getting people to do something you want them to do. We believe that worship is natural, and to worship God comes naturally. Our worship philosophy is that if those in front are passionately worshipping, everyone else will naturally follow.

You see, worship is our response to who God is and what He has done in our lives. Think of it this way: to those who have done great things in their lifetimes we might build a monument in recognition of their deeds. But God's not into monuments. Knowing the depth of God's love for us as shown through the willing sacrifice of His Son, how can we not but respond in worship? As natural as God's love is for us, our worship is to be for Him.

The foundation of our worship are the above verses, John 4:23-24. In every gathering, from the weekend services to a care group in the home, we desire to be the people that God is looking for, those who worship in spirit and truth, or to say it another way, with passion and authenticity. The Bible teaches us to worship with all that we are, our minds, bodies, emotions, and our will. To simplify that, we are to worship God with passion. At the same time, our worship is to be authentic to how God desires to be worshipped as seen in His word.

It's as simple as that, passion and authenticity. That's worship, and that's being a worshipper.
