Every Tuesday night we’ll be looking at the book of Acts and
discovering what the early church cared about, what they did, and how
they did it. In a lot of ways we live in a different world than the
early Christians did, but in surprising ways some things haven’t
changed a bit. Let’s discover how to serve, worship, pray, learn, and
care for each other, and a lot more as we study Acts.
ACTS
The message of the book of Acts is – the future belongs to the Spirit.
The following is what we believe God will do as we (a community of young adults at Cornerstone) journey together through the book of Acts.
1. We will gain an intimate relationship with the most prominent character in the Book of Acts – the Holy Spirit.
With the Holy Spirit, ordinary people will be gifted and empowered to do extraordinary things. And apart from the Spirit, we can do nothing.
2. We will study community, and we will practice community.
The book of Acts is the story of the birth and growth of the church. When the Holy Spirit comes, the Holy Spirit empowers, enables, and gives birth to the church.
3. We will pour out our hearts in worship to God.
The heart of being together is a passionate desire for glory and worship – worship will be a focus for us in this series.
4. We’re going to learn how to become peacemakers.
We're going to learn how followers of Jesus deal with conflict and tension in a way that builds community instead of destroying it.
5. We’re going to become fearless champions in the spread of the Gospel.
We will learn from the Apostle Paul as he affirms people and contextualizes the Gospel to them.
6. We will be encouraged by the victory of hope over hardship.
We can view this world as a sinking ship (bad things in the world are just getting worse), or we can view it as an opportunity to advance the kingdom of God on this earth.
